KPI UMY 2024 Field Study: IPICOM Students Explore Prominent Institutions in Solo and Malang

Yogyakarta –  Islamic Communication and Broadcasting Department (KPI)  Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) organized a Field Study Lecture (KKL) from January 16-17, 2024, spanning two cities, Solo and Malang. The event involved visits to six institutions and engaged active KPI UMY students class of 2021

On the first day (27/07), IPICOM students specializing and Student from the counseling concentration visited Arif Zainudin Mental Hospital in Solo to understand the public relations aspect and delve into the spiritual care practices of the hospital. Simultaneously, communication concentration students visited the Leadership of Solopos Media Group to gain insights into on-air production within the organization and the Solo City Information and Communication Office.

On the second day (28/07), IPICOM students and counseling concentration students visited Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat Mental Hospital, while communication concentration students visited JTV Malang. The communication concentration students were accompanied by the Chair of the KPI UMY Program, Dr. Ahmad Hermawan, Lc., M.A., Fahmi Irfanudin, Lc., M.S.I., and Dr. Subkhi Ridho. Meanwhile, IPICOM and counseling concentration students were accompanied by the Secretary of the KPI UMY Program, Cahyo Setiadi Ramadhan, M.Psi., Psi.

The visit concluded with a tour to the Transport Museum and Batu Night Spectacular to prevent monotony and provide students with the opportunity to fully enjoy the field study. One of the KKL participants, Isna Raisa, expressed, “The Solo-Malang visit really depicted the theories taught in class, especially in the Public Relations course. The case studies taught in class were truly reflected during our time at PKU Solo Hospital.”
